The Feast of Christ the King AD 2023

The true throne of the eternal King is the Cross of Calvary. From this Cross our true and loving King reigns over all – as the one who has reconciled by his blood all things unto Himself, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. He has given himself in love. He has left nothing behind and has poured out his soul unto death; in whose body the wounds inflicted by men remained even after the resurrection from the dead. In the Book of Revelation, we read that when St. John saw the heavenly throne, the King sitting on it was like the Lamb as it had been slain.

Jesus Christ is the King and He reigns – this must be acknowledged by everyone, as He says through the prophet Isaiah: «Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness and shall not return; that unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.»

Our Lord is the true and eternal King who reigns in truth, righteousness, and love. We can serve Him and bear witness to Him as children of His Kingdom only by following His example and living in truth, righteousness, and love.
