We are members of the Anglican Church in America, a part of the Traditional Anglican Communion, which has its roots in the English Catholic (i.e. Whole) Church that was born within 200 years of Christ's life on earth. Today's Anglican Church is a continuation of the oid church under the care of a bishop and other clergy who remain loyal to the traditional Christian faith and practice. We are Biblical and Sacramental; that is, centered in prayer and worship. We desire, as our Baptismal commitment says, to "follow Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord." We beiieve that our present bishops have their authority delegated to them by the Laying on of Hands reaching back to the Apostles. We practice reguiar participation in Hoiy Communion. Jesus at the Last Supper instituted this Sacrament when He broke bread and drank wine with His disciples, exhorting them to do the same in remembrance of Him. As Queen Elizabeth 1 said "We hold a faith not our own" . That is, it's not ours to change. Every Christian stands on the shoulders of all who have gone before. As the Scripture says, "...built on the foundatlon of the Aposties and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone" So, likewlse, we at All Saints owe a debt we could never repay to the Whole or Catholic Church, to the Methodists, and to the hundreds who have kept this "Country Church of Talbert" alive in Jesus' Name. We couid not begin to mention or thank them, yet God knows them and wlll reward them. CATHOLIC / REFORMED / EVANGELICAL Catholic means "of the whole" (not Roman). We hold a Faith "not our own". It is the faith of the ancient creeds, held by all the faithful, at all times, and in all places. We are reformed but not protestant. Anglicanism rejects the abuses and additions of the "divided" church. We require only that belief taught in Scripture as interpreted by the "whole" Church. Evangelical means "of the Gospel" or "Good News." Man is redeemed by the saving acts of Jesus our Christ. Every Christian is obligated to proclaim this Good News in word and action. ORTHODOX / SACRAMENTAL / LITURGICAL Although he Church's message is interpreted to each new age, no novel doctrine ay be required of the faithful. We are orthodox in all ancient doctrine. We believe that the Sacraments, instituted of Christ, convey grace through he Holy Spirit. Even John Calvin said that wherever the Gospel is preached, the sacraments must be administered. They are the spiritual life of the body. We invite you to be involved! Come worship with us in the historic faith of Jesus Christ. We don't have all the answers, but we invite your inquiry. God Bless you with his infinite Grace and Mercy. |
