The Right Reverend Daren K. Williams was born and lived his childhood in Battle Creek, Michigan. He did his undergraduate study at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, majoring in Organ and Church Music. Upon leaving Michigan, he moved to Orlando, Florida and was employed at first by the Bendix Corporation, subcontractor to the space program at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Kennedy. During this time he was part-time Assistant Organist and Choirmaster at St. Luke's Cathedral in Orlando. In 1970, he was appointed Organist and Choirmaster for All Saints' Church, Winter Park, Florida, then the largest Episcopal parish in the state.

It was during this period that he perceived a call to the ordained ministry. Concluding the call was to the Diaconate, he studied for a year in the diocesan Diaconate training program. Realizing the call was to the Priesthood, he was admitted to seminary at Nashotah House in Wisconsin. Upon graduation he was ordained to the Diaconate in June 1978 and to the Priesthood in January 1979. While still a senior in seminary he was called by the Dean for appointment as Nashotah's first full-time Director of Music and Assistant to the Vicar of the Chapel. After only a year, Bishop Williams received a call to become and Assistant to the Rector and Vice Principal of All Saints' Church and Day School, San Diego, California.

In 1980 he was called to St. Thomas' Church, Battle Creek, Michigan, with a membership of 550, where he became both Assistant to the Rector and Director of Music. When his rector retired, he was elected Locum Tenens during the interim. He served as Rector of St. James' Church, Goshen, Indiana, Diocese of Northern Indiana 1983-1986 before he accepted the call as Rector of St. John's Church, Springfield, Missouri, Diocese of West Missouri, in May 1986, and enjoyed an eleven-year rectorate. St. John's Parish grew from 200 to 350 during that period. Bishop Williams was called as Rector of Christ Church, Williamsport, Pennsylvania in 1997.

In January 2004, he celebrated the twenty-fifth anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood with a wonderful Mass and luncheon attended by parishioners, friends in the community, and four of his six children and their spouses. He continued as rector until his resignation from the parish and left the Episcopal Church in October 2004.

At his resignation from Christ Church, he came under the Episcopal authority of Archbishop Falk and directly under the jurisdiction of Bishop Louis Campese, Diocese of the Eastern United States (DEUS), Anglican Church in America. Bishop Williams established the Anglican Church of the Incarnation in Williamsport, PA with forty charter members, consisting primarily of former members of Christ Church. Parish membership is at present 50. Bishop Williams served on the Standing Committee and the Board of Examining Chaplains for DEUS.

While at St. Thomas' Church, he met his wife Joy, the former Joyce Carnahan Kiess, who has shared with him the rearing of four sons and two daughters. All the children are now married. Father and Joy have six grandsons. Bishop Williams has been a musician all his life and continues to play organ recitals from time to time. He enjoys his record and CD collection and he listens particularly to English choral music, organ music and, on occasion, music from the Big Bands. He and Joy appreciate visits with their children and grandchildren and they enjoy the study of history, art, and more recently, walking for health's sake. They have traveled through much of the eastern United States and have made five trips to Great Britain, visiting the great cathedrals and collegiate chapels enjoying the music, liturgies, historical significance and architectural beauty found there.

On February 3, 2007, Bishop Williams was concentrated as the Bishop of the Diocese of the West of the Anglican Church in America.
